Aina Paola Aguila Turss – Climate Change Area Coordinator

Aina Aguila Turss holds BA in International Relations from the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Occidente (acronym in Spanish: ITESO) as well a specialist diploma in Urban Environmental Management from the Latin American Sciences Institute and the Fondo Verde organization.

From the beginning of her career, local-level environmental sustainability has been Aguila Turss’s main area of interest.

She was a volunteer collaborator at Presencia Ciudadana Mexicana, A.C. (PCM) as well as on the Colima state electoral observations and quick-count verifications project that PCM carried out during that state’s 2006 elections. She has also collaborated with the Los Cuartos Ecological Center in Aguascalientes, developing environmental education activities, based on the Earth Charter, for rural and urban school groups.

Aguila Turss worked in the public sector for two and one-half years, at the City of Colima Planning Institute—a decentralized municipal organism—as chief of its Linking and Coordination Department, where she was charged with coordination and follow-up on community planning/linking activities with other local, national and international institutions/organizations.

Since the start of 2011, Aguila Turss has functioned as the Fundación Pensar. Planeta, Política, Persona as Climate-Change Area Coordinator, largely working as a liaison between the Global Cities Covenant on Climate (Mexico City Pact), its participatory mayors, and the international organizations that support the project, such as ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability; United Cities and Local Governments; the carbonn Cities Climate Registry; and the Club de Madrid.
