World Forests Congress

XIV World Forests Congress

September 7th to 11th, 2015, Durban, South Africa

Forests are essential for life in our planet, for the mitigation of and adaptation to climate change, for guaranteeing an adequate drinkable water supply, improving biodiversity and providing tenable subsistence means and income, even food security. However, it is forests that must endure unprecedented and implacable pressures.

The XIV World Forests Congress gathers the world’s forest community with the goal of examining and analysing the fundamental questions and sharing the means to address them. The participants may belong to a governmental organization, NGO, corporation, scientific or professional organization, forest society, or may simply show interest in attending. The widespread participation and debate that will arise over forest matters shall facilitate their incorporation in world sustainable development programs, as well as the creation of new associations.
